Approval service for UK schools
We offer UK schools a 30-day approval service on selected items. If a product is available on approval, this will be indicated in the Approval Service tab on the product information page.
Please note that the following products are NOT available on approval:
- Downloadable products – Editable Teacher’s Books
- Smart English series – Teacher’s Books and Resource CD-ROMs/downloads
- Smart Skills Builder ICT series – Key Stage 3 ICT Bundle (VLE content); Y7, Y8 and Y9 ICT VLE Packs
Any items ordered on approval will be invoiced when the goods are dispatched. However, the approval invoice only needs to be paid if you decide to keep the goods. If a product is not suitable for your school, simply return the item to us in its original condition within 30 days of receipt.
How do I return unwanted approval items?
We will accept returns on approval orders within the 30-day approval period. If you keep the goods for longer than 30 days, you will need to pay the approval invoice in full.
Please include a completed returns form with any returned items. Schools are responsible for the return postage and we recommend that you use a method of postage that requires a signature.
On receipt of your returned goods we will arrange a credit note or refund, as appropriate.

What if I want to keep some items and return others?
Only return the items you do not wish to keep. On receipt of your returned items we will raise a credit note against those items. For the items you are keeping, please settle your original invoice minus the cost of the items you have returned to us.
Please note: Approval orders cannot be dispatched to residential or overseas addresses.
